Comments on General Meeting - Very good meeting which focused on a presentation of the three leading office suites by Bob Mason. Bob's use of PowerPoint slides was particularly effective and helped guide the presentation in an organized fashion. Bob's handout also provided a useful reference guide to the major features offered in each suite. Finally, three cheers to Bob for offering a clear-cut opinion on the relative quality of programs in each of the office suites. Attendance at General Meeting - 17 Club Membership - Club membership has risen to 60. He added that he has a sample of a mouse pad with the club's name on it which could be used as a sign-up or annual renewal bonus. He will bring a sample to the next board meeting. Plans for Future Meetings - Lance Cutler was asked at the meeting if his brother-in-law will be able to give a demo of FrontPage 98 at the October meeting along with a demo of LiveArt98 by Lois Brant. As a back up, we agreed that we would prepare for a "Freebies on the Net" theme meeting with various individuals assigned to demo assorted freebies. Bob agreed to handle the overview discussion of freebies on the net. Jorn said he would take Juno. Geof agreed to handle Bigfoot and Switchboard. Lou Spriggs will take ZDNet. Mike ten Kate agreed to cover Yahoo and Excite. Mike mentioned that he can offer two "filler" demonstrations at the October meeting or some future meeting if necessary. The first filler involves an interactive CD which came with the latest edition of "How Computers Work." This CD allows you to fly into a computer and view summary and detailed descriptions of the component parts of a typical home computer set-up. The second filler involves an interactive CD which came with "Upgrading and Repairing PCs" which Mike is currently reviewing for an article in the Cursor. This CD shows the book's author performing a number of "routine" tasks such as installing a new hard drive and doing a memory upgrade. Meeting adjourned
