Treasurer's Report/Other Financial Business - The Treasurer's April report was distributed and accepted without amendment. March club sales came to $21 from the sale of seven PC disk sets and $21 from the sale of seven Linux CDs. Bob noted that we have not yet received the CD software sampler from the APCUG that we will be offering to club members at $5.00 a CD. Cursor Production/Software Reviews/Web Site News - Everyone agreed that both the March and April Cursors looked very good. It was not clear at the meeting what the deadline for article submissions is for next month's issue of the Cursor. The list of outstanding software reviews is as follows. Partition Magic 5.0 (Assigned to Bob. Received software at December meeting. Review was originally due by March Cursor. Review is now two months overdue.) Corel Draw 8 (Assigned to Bob, not time sensitive.) Microsoft PhotoDraw (Assigned to Lance. Received at January meeting. Review was originally due by April Cursor. Review is now one month overdue.) Mike asked that an article on preparing software reviews in the April APCUG newsletter be reprinted in the May edition of the Cursor. Bob said he would scan and OCR the article for publication in the Cursor. General Discussion - Bob noted that he will follow-up with COMPUSA regarding the possibility that club members can receive a discount at COMPUSA under its corporate discount program. Bob said he is looking into having the club (as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit) receive a donation of software/equipment from Microsoft for the program he runs for Fairfax County. Geof noted that he will look for the letter/certificate which shows that the club is a registered 501(c)(3). Mike ten Kate raised the possibility of email notification of upcoming meetings to all current and lapsed club members. We discussed the option of adding a line to the club renewal form that would ask that ask applicants to "opt-out" from receiving such a notification. Geof said he make the necessary changes to the form. We discussed the possibility of replacing our ailing club laptop with an IBM ThinkPad. Geof said he will research potential options (new and used) and report back at the next board meeting. We briefly discussed the proposed charters for each of our SIGs. Bob noted that a deadline for submission of the charters will be established at an upcoming board meeting. Future Meetings - Mike mentioned that Debra Pfundstein from Microsoft had to cancel her "Living the Web Lifestyle" presentation scheduled for May. Mike will work with Debra to see if her presentation can be rescheduled for July or August. As a result, the May 20 meeting will be devoted exclusively to web page development. Bob will check with our scheduled presenter to see whether he can fill the entire program. Bob said he will be prepared to discuss CuteFTP to round out the program if necessary. Bill Walsh agreed to demo CD-RW technology at the July meeting and using dual monitors at the August meeting. Meeting adjourned
