    Both offer local access numbers for most areas in the United States. As we mentioned, banner ads pay the bill, but if you have a reasonably large monitor (17 inches or greater, possibly 15 inches), you can probably live with the intrusion. One of these services might at least make a good backup for those times when your regular service goes down or when two folks in your house want to log on (if you have two phone lines).

  2. How to Make a BootDisk. http://www.bootdisk.com/. At this site you can download a boot file for various systems: Win 2000, 98, 95, etc. Click on the link for "How to Make a BootDisk". Example: MSDOS 6.22 w/Win98 is a 572KB DownLoad from micronpc.com.

  3. Using Meta-search Engines For Vanity Searches. Where ordinary search engines collect their results from the Web, meta engines take advantage of all that hard work by culling their results from six or eight other engines.

  13. Mail2Web. How would you like to be able to access your e-mail queue from any internet accessible location? You can view your e-mail queue, read any message, delete any or all messages, without logging on to your basicserver. Visit: http://www.mail2web.com/ then enter your e-mail log-on address, along with your password. It has saved me time by deleting large messages that I was not interested in. Try it and see if you like it! You can read and reply to your e-mail. Also works with a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). Do not be discouraged if the first try fails!

  17. Start-Up Help. You can easily remove unwanted programs that load at start-up, and slow down your computer's performance.
