Washington Area Commodore User Group Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting 20 February 1999 Board Meeting Attendance - Lance Cutler, Jorn Dakin, Alex Goodale, Geof Goodrum, Bob Mason, Lu Spriggs, and Mike ten Kate Minutes - Minutes from the January board meeting were distributed and read. Minutes were amended to read "Article V" instead of "Article 4." Minutes were approved as amended. Comments on General Meeting - Excellent meeting covering personal finance and tax preparation packages (Quicken, Microsoft Money, Managing Your Money, TurboTax, and TaxCut). Attendance at General Meeting - A very respectable 34. Treasurer's Report - Jorn Dakin explained that the February financial report is an interim statement. The March financial report will show corrected totals. Jorn provided a reimbursement check of $25.00 to Mike ten Kate to cover the State Corporation Commission annual report fee. Disk Sales/Membership renewals - Total disk sales came to $78.00 for eighteen PC disk sets, four game sets, one 8-bit set, and one VB disk set. A total of three free PC disk sets were distributed. The list of non-renewing members list was divided up amongst several board members who agreed to make follow-up calls. Three new members signed up at the meeting, three current members renewed, and one lapsed member renewed. General Discussion - Geof Goodrum noted that the mailing list has been updated and that March is the last month non-renewing members will receive a copy of the Cursor. The board agreed that the club's general policy will be to accept up to two pages of advertising. Advertising rates will be held steady unless circulation rises. Club policy on vendor product review offers will be to publish a time- limited announcement in the Cursor to see who might be interested in preparing a written review of the product. We agreed to make electronic versions of the Cursor available to The Journal for reprinting purposes. Future Meetings - The theme for the March meeting will be console, computer, and on-line games. Geof will bring several Linux games. Lance Cutler will bring Riven and Tombraider along with his Sony Playstation. Mike ten Kate will bring Riven and Tombraider for the PC and two games for the Nintendo 64 console. Mike will bring his Nintendo 64 console. It was also suggested that Mike look into renting the Nintendo 64 version of Tombraider for the meeting. Bob Mason will also demo how to prepare MP3 files. It was agreed that the theme for April will be alternate operating systems. Mike will demo the BeOS (Version 4). Geof will review Mandrake Linux. Alex Goodale may be able to demo Open DOS as well. The May meeting will be set aside for a demo by Bob of Microsoft's Office 2000. Meeting adjourned
